Eau De Vie is French words and it means “water of life” and it is offer refers to a clear, colourless fruit brandy that produced with fermentation and double distillation. The reference as water means the flavour is light.
At Nexus Bangsar South, Eau De Vie (EDV) a restaurant which offers wine pairing and it is also one of the hidden gems in Klang Valley. Eau De Vie offers a full range of liquor, from wine to champagne, from beer to whiskey. The beauty of Eau De Vie is the in-house Sommelier, something that is hard to find in many restaurants in Malaysia.
I visited EDV last weekend for dinner and I went for a short tour with the Sommelier. Hidden inside EDV are racks of liquor of wine, whiskey and champagnes. They offer Japanese whiskey and sake, something you can look forward too.
If you intend to enjoy yourselves with a group of friends in private, do book for their VIP room. The VIP room is located inside the restaurant and it comes with a huge space with comfortable American size sofas and flat screen TV. VIP offers not just comfort and privacy but also top notch services by well-trained staffs.
The dinner started off with Mariniere (RM28)
Mariniere (RM28) is Black Mussels with white wine sauce and shallot, garlic, butter and parsley. They offer Tasmania Black Mussels and I love the freshness of the mussels as well as the taste of the sauce with hints of white wine.
Andalusian Crab Cake (RM22)
Their version of Crab Cake is called Andalusian Crab Cake. It is served on a bed of garlic, pak choy and avocado aioli. You can taste the crab meat in this homemade crab cake and I enjoyed the crab cake.
Deep Fried Squids (RM14)
Deed fried squids or fried calamari rings are addictive as usual. I can’t help ordering this as I just can’t turn away deep fried food. Taste better with lemon mayo.
Seafood Mixed Grill (RM49)
Their version of seafood mixed grilled comes with seabass, prawn, clam, squid, scallop antipasto, tomato & grilled asparagus with capers beurre blanc. Look at that plate and for the price you pay, this is considered cheap. Take the generous amount of seafood aside, the seafood is fresh and the taste didn’t disappoint at all.
Chef’s Special Beef Ribs (RM60)
This is the specialty from Eau De Vie. Their Special beef ribs is slow braised beef back ribs in Texas hickory sauce, served with potato salad, corn-on-the-cobs, buttered vegetables. The portion is generous and the beef ribs are well cooked. The texture is soft and the sauce is well done. This is better than many other overrated beef ribs out there.
Grilled Lamb Cutlets (RM48)
The grilled lamb cutlets come with garlic mash, minty salad & baked caramelised pear with rosemary garlic reduction. The lamb cutlets are cooked to medium well and I should have ordered it for medium rare. However, even on medium well, the lamb cutlets are absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to order a second plate but my tummy was giving up on me. You should try this and let me know what you think.
Chocolate Volcano Lava Cake (RM17)
Lastly, I ordered the Chocolate Volcano Lava Cake. The volcano didn’t erupt that evening spewing chocolate lava out of the cake as the chocolate was thick but I enjoyed it. The rich double molten chocolate cake best with vanilla ice cream.
I had a feast at Eau De Vie and not forgetting the Bottega sparkling wine. The service is good, the restaurant is cozy and the food prices are reasonable. The dinner was unforgettable and it is definitely one of the restaurants to visit at Nexus Bangsar South.
Nexus Bangsar South is one of the up and coming food and beverages playground in Klang Valley and you should check out their restaurants. There are heaps of parking spaces and the parking charges are reasonable too. EDV is one of the hidden gems in Nexus Bangsar South and please book your table in advance to avoid disappointment.
