Macau Giant Panda Pavilion

There are so many things to do in Macau and one of them is to visit the Macau Giant Panda Pavilion. Just minutes away from the resorts of Cotai Strip, the Macau Giant Panda Pavilion quietly positioned itself in Coloane.

There is a Seac Pai Van Park but the real star is the Macau Giant Panda Pavilion. It is the home of a pair of rare giant pandas, Kai Kai / Hoi Hoi and Xin Xin / Sam Sam. The meaning of the pair is happiness in Chinese. They are from the Chengdu, China and part of the endangered species that has only 1600 left in the world.

You have to pay to visit the pavilion and it is only MOP 10 (around RM5) and it is free for children of 12 years old and below and for seniors of 65 years old and above. It is ten times cheaper than our Zoo Negara in Malaysia and the pavilion is beautifully designed to house this pair of cute giant pandas.

The pavilion is 3000 square metre with indoor and outdoor yard and logistic centres. The pair of the pandas is the gift from China to Macau government to share the national treasure with general public.

There are time slots per day and the pavilion schedule from 10 am to 1 pm and 2pm to 5 pm. The pavilion is fully air conditioned and guarded by friendly security officers.

We were told that the best time to visit the pandas are during 10 am as it is their feeding time or else they will sleep most of the time.

Lucky for us, the pandas woke up and decided to walk around to have a meal.

The panda also poop before heads back to sleep.

How the experience? We were lucky that there were not many people in the pavilion that day. We spent more than an hour in pavilion just watching the pandas. Each movement makes everyone there so excited.

We took a taxi to the pavilion and we took a local bus back. Getting a taxi at the pavilion is tough and we chose to get a local bus. We enjoyed our experience at Macau Giant Panda Pavilion as the pandas are so adorable! The children love the pandas for too and this is a great pit stop in Macau for family and friends. For MOP 10, you can’t complain.
