The big name of Hock Lee Ulu Yam Loh Mee, heard of it so many times but I never make the effort of driving there to try it. The creator of loh mee, it is a must to visit Restoran Hock Lee but I got lucky as I spotted one of their branches in OUG a few days ago.

The Hock Lee Ulu Yam Loh Mee OUG OUG branch is located at 33, Jalan Hujan Rahmat 3 and it is the same row with OUG Steven Corner. I found the outlet when Rachel decided to have Chinese food instead of mamak. It was a typical weekday evening, the restaurant was half packed. The owner was friendly and we ordered two noodles and one side dish.

We ordered the legendary Loh Mee for RM 6.50 (S)

Even though it is for a single portion, the loh mee comes in a big bowl. For the taste, it didn’t disappoint me as I thought it was well done. I enjoyed the noodles very well and of course the ingredients are lesser but it is okay.

We also ordered the sinful Special Stew Pork Mee Hoon for RM 8.50 (S)

 
This really surprised us. The special stew pork is actually “kau yoke” and it is slightly softer in texture but the taste is alright. The mee hoon was stir fried to perfection and we enjoyed this.

Salted Duck Egg with Mantis Prawn. If you count the amount of calories, you can never swallow it. However, when it is deep fried into crispiness and coated with salted duck egg, god bless your calories. I love the fragrant of the salted duck egg and the crispiness of the mantis prawn but just slightly over fried in my own opinion. Nevertheless, nothing left on the plate at the end of the plate.

Lastly, I have never been to original Restoran Hock Lee in Ulu Yam so I can compare the taste of the loh mee with this outlet. In my opinion, the price of the food is reasonable and the food is overall good. I don’t mind coming back again.
