One Chun Phuket Sino Thai Restaurant

Phuket is a huge island. As most travellers prefer to stay and visit the Southwest of the island, there are many other places to visit in Phuket. One of the places of interest is the Phuket Old Town.

Phuket Old Town is unique because it carries the heritage of old Phuket. Phuket like Penang has its beautiful historical past and it influences the food, culture as well as the architecture.

You can find many beautiful pre-war building with Thai and Chinese influences as well as some of the popular Sino Thai restaurants. There are a few popular Sin Thai restaurants in Phuket Old Town. We wrote one of them, Raya Thai a few years ago and recently we visited another Sino-Thai restaurant, One Chun Phuket Sino Thai Restaurant.

One Chun Phuket restaurant is located at 48/1 Thephkasattri Rd (opposite Phuket Town Inn Hotel) Amphoe Muang Phuket. It is very near Raya Thai and in fact the bosses are relatives (if not mistaken).

The restaurant is beautifully renovated and you can find many antique items displayed in the restaurant. It is fully air conditioned and the service staffs are very friendly.

We were there for lunch and there were three of us. We ordered some of their signature food which is mostly Sino Thai cuisine.

For starter, we have Nam Prik Kung Sieb (Spicy Shrimp Dip Thai Salad) or Thai Paste with Dried Shrimp and Garlic  (150TB)

Nam Prik Kung Sieb (Spicy Shrimp Dip Thai Salad) or Thai Paste with Dried Shrimp and Garlic is a Thai Salad. You just eat the vegetables with the spicy shrimp dip. This is healthy with the spiciness from the dip. All the dishes are compliment with Thai rice (not in the pictures).

Fried Crab Claw Meats with Lemon Sauce (280TB)

Fried Crab Claw Meats with Lemon Sauce is stir fried crab claw meat with lemon sauce. This is my first time having this. The taste is light but I enjoyed the freshness of the crab meat.

Crab Meat Curry and Coconut Milk  (280TB)

 
Crab Meat Curry and Coconut Milk is another crab dish we ordered as I really like to eat crabs. I tried this dish before and this is a Phuket authentic food. The crab meat cooked with thick coconut curry and compliment with the rice vermicelli. I enjoyed this very much and I always look for this whenever I travel to Phuket. Of course the dish is available in other parts of Thailand especially in Bangkok but I prefer having this in Phuket.

Steamed Pork with Pepper and Garlic (Phuket Style) (150TB)

This Phuket style Steamed Pork with Pepper and Garlic is similar to Chinese version of braised pork. The taste is similar and it is best compliment with white rice.

Stir Fried Pak Meang with Egg and Dried Shrimp (150TB)

I am not a vegetable lover and it reflects on my body size however this Stir Fried Pak Meang with Egg and Dried Shrimp is something that amazed me. This vegetable called Pak Meang (or whatever it is) is really nice to eat. For the first time, I finished a plate of vegetable and it is called pak meang! This is a unique Phuket vegetable dish that you should try on.

One Chun Phuket didn’t disappoint us at all. The food is good, the service is top notch and the prices are reasonable. Remember to drop by this restaurant if you stay in Phuket Old Town or when you visit this place.
