Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin Train Night Market Bangkok
Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin Train Night Market Bangkok
There is two Talad Rod Fai or train market in Bangkok. We wrote on the 2nd Talad Rod Fai recently and the weekend night market is located in Ratchada, easier to visit and it is very near MRT Subway station.
This is the original Talad Rod Fai market but this is not the original location. The original location is by the train tracks near Chatuchak Market and that’s how they got their name “train market”. They had to relocate in 2013 due to the expansion of the BTS Skytrain and it moves to Srinakarin. The market gain lots of popularity due to its uniqueness and that’s why when it moves to Srinakarin, there are many locals and tourists visited the market.
Before we start to share our experience visiting the market, let’s talk about Srinakarin. Srinakarin is located at north east of the city and it is not near the BTS Skytrain stations or MRT Subway stations. It is located behind Seacon Square Srinakarin, one of the larger shopping malls in Bangkok.
Before I visit the market, we read a couple of reviews stating that On Nut BTS Station is the nearest to the market. Actually, it is NOT true. The nearest BTS station to Talad Rod Fai is Udom Suk BTS Station. From On Nut BTS station, take a taxi and it takes quite a while to reach the Seacon Square. If not mistaken, it should be around 20 minutes and the taxi fare is around 100 Baht. The taxi will stop you at the opposite of the Seacon Square and you need to take the pedestrian bridge to cross over.
Please do follow the directions of the train market banner and it will lead you to a small road at the left of the Seacon Mall. Do not try to walk to the market via Seacon Mall as there are no connecting points. You can take the bike taxi if you are lazy to walk but it will take only 10 minutes of walking max to reach to the market.
The market is huge. We notice there are couple of sections. The first section is covered section and it is the first thing you see when you walk in from the main road. You can spot many restaurants and shops in this covered area. Walk further and you will see another covered area with more shops and restaurants.
The second section is the night market. Mostly are stalls in tents and there are hundreds of them. You can find many things here. There are local food as well as clothes, accessories, souvenirs and many more. Too many to tell so it is better you come and look for yourself.
You can find local Thai food such as the Thai Cotton Candy.
The third section is the deepest section. After you walk past the second section, there will be small warehouse buildings and you can find many antique shops and other shops there.
Again, we want to remind you that market is huge so by the time you reach here, you have walk at least 20 minutes from the main road and please note that you have to walk all the way back to catch a taxi or call Uber or GrabCar.
Since we visited both Talad Rod Fai Train markets, this Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin Train Market is bigger than Talad Rod Fai Ratchada Train Market.
What we like about this market is it is huge. Thus, the trip coming to this market is worth it. You can easily spend hours in this market. The things are cheap here and you can find many locals shopping here.
Remember Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin Market is open from Thursday to Sundays only from 5 pm till 1 am. It is best to come to the market after 7pm based on our experience as well as tips from locals.
