3 New Highlights of MBK Center for 2016
MBK Center or also known as Mahboonkrong is one of the top shopping malls in Bangkok. It is one of those shopping malls that you can find almost everything under roof. Hence, the locals as well as tourists love MBK Center.
MBK Center was opened in 1985 and it was the biggest mall in Asia. It is located near the National Stadium BTS Station as well as walking distance to Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon shopping mall.
MBK is huge and it is eight stories high with around 2000 shops, restaurants and also the Tokyu deparmental store. What we love about MBK is you can find many kind of things there. We tailored made our jackets there many years ago and we also went shopping there lately. With 2000 shops, there are plenty of shopping going on there, they have two lovely food courts and dozens of restaurants and cafe.
Don’t forget there is a cinema and we watched a couple of movies there in this few years. You find more locals and tourists here even though Malaysians, Singaporeans and Asians in general love to shop in MBK. Even, Chelsea ex-boss Jose Mourinha was spotted shopping for phone accessories in MBK last year.
The beauty of shopping malls in Bangkok is they evolve. Change for the better. This applies to MBK Center too. Within this couple of months, there are new three highlights in MBK Center you should check it out!
1.Animate Bangkok
For ‘otaku’ fans, this is the treat for you. Japanese retail Animate Co recently open Animate Bangkok on 7th floor. This is part of a program to spread the anime and manga culture throughout Southeast Asia starting from Bangkok.
The store is run by Animate JMA (Japan Manga Alliance) with a massive space of 561 sqm and it is also supported by publishers Kadokawa Corp, Kodansha, Shuesiha and Shogakukan.
Animate Bangkok is huge, similar to the shops in Akihabara and Den Den Town Osaka. The beauty of Animate Bangkok is they carry authentic and original items from Japan. For ‘otaku’ lovers, this is where you get your stuffs and there are many things to buy here. You can get mangas, CDs, DVDs, Bluerays, Posters, T-shirts and many more. If you are a big ‘otaku’ fan, no harm dropping by and take a look at Animate Bangkok.
