Siam Discovery Bangkok: Modern Contemporary ID Shopping Mall

Siam Discovery Center is a shopping mall in Bangkok opened in 1997. It is located next to Siam Center and Siam BTS Station. With intense competition from other shopping malls, Siam Discovery went for an overhaul and it costs Siam Piwat Co THB 4 Billion (RM 460 million). Thus, the mall is closed down for a year and recently it finally reopens with a brand new look. It is a new Modern Contemporary ID (Interior Design) Shopping Mall.

With its grand launching just a few days ago, we went to check out this newly refurbished shopping mall. This is the talk of the town now and we were advised to visit the mall by all our local friends.

Siam Discovery is Bangkok’s first lifestyle-concept shopping mall with more than 5000 International and local brands and community space for potential visitors of 100,000 visitors a day!

The best way to visit Siam Discovery is by BTS Skytrain. Just stopped at Siam BTS Station and walked into Siam Center and go to level 4 for a connecting bridge to Siam Discovery or walk over on the ground floor.

The first impression of the mall is modern contemporary interior design. Thus, the mall is not just another brand new shopping mall but one of the most impressive interior designs for a mall.

The mall is coloured with classy white and the design is unbelievable. You will feels like in a contemporary museum with retail shops.

You can find quite a number of Japanese designer brands here. Most notable is the two storeys Issey Miyake designer boutique.

Hence, there is also a section for Yohji Yamamoto designer wear. We also spotted quite a number of Japanese tourists checking out the Japanese labels here.

If you are looking for food, head to Siam Center as there is not many restaurants here. There are only two restaurants available at Siam Discovery Bangkok.

This is definitely the must visit shopping mall in Bangkok right now. Just go check out their super cool modern contemporary design. Some sections do feel like scenes from the movie ‘Inception’. Maybe Leonardo Di Caprio is lurking somewhere in the mall.
