The Rocks Weekend Market in Sydney
The Rocks Weekend Market or simply known as The Rocks Market is a weekend market at the iconic landmark The Rocks in Sydney. The Rocks is one of the first few settlements in Sydney and you will be amazed by the buildings here mostly made by sandstone from the 1700s.
The first time we visited The Rocks was in 2001 and recently we revisited the historical place. You can really awesome view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge as well as the Sydney Opera House.
One of the highlights of The Rock is the weekend markets which is 10 am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The market is bigger now compared to fifteen years ago.
It stretched to three areas now, namely Playfair Street, George Street and Jack Mundey Place. Thus, there are more stalls and unique things to see and buy and most of them are local produce products.
It is an open air market, you meet many friendly sellers here and things like fashion, handcrafted jewelries, gems and precious stones, art, toys, photographs, paintings and plenty more.
The beauty is you get to shop in the market as well as strolling in lanes of the earliest settlements in Australia. You get to hit two birds with one stone. Of course, there is this popular Pancake on The Rocks for breakfast that you need to try.
What we like about this market is the things they sell here is cheaper than malls. Thus, you get to see many interesting local products and the sellers here are very friendly too. Well, you can try to bargain the prices with them a bit if you want. We always come to this market whenever we are in Sydney.
