Sunway Velocity Shopping Mall in Cheras Kuala Lumpur

Tomorrow, Sunway Velocity Shopping Mall will open their doors to the public tomorrow. There are a few shops are opening tomorrow and one of them will be H&M. Others will follow soon as tenants are getting ready to open soon maybe before the year’s end or Chinese New Year.

We drove passed the mall today and they are still rushing to complete the renovation of the mall. Thus, we took a few pictures of the exterior of the mall as public is not allowed to access the mall until tomorrow as we were told.

This is one of the two huge malls opening in Cheras. The other mall is MYTOWN which is opening next year (next to IKEA Cheras).

There are many malls in Cheras and there are not many success stories behind them. Growing up in Cheras, we have seen many malls either closed down or rebranded themselves and still struggling. The successful malls in Cheras are Cheras Leisure Mall and AEON Taman Maluri as they are still standing tall after so many years in our opinion.

Well, it is a bold decision to open such a huge mall in Cheras. Within 1km, there is the Viva Home Shopping Mall (formerly UE3 Shopping Mall) and AEON Taman Maluri is just opposite the mall.

Sunway Velocity is built by Sunway Group with capacity of 500 shops and 6500 bays. It will be the home of Malaysia’s first AEON MaxValu Prime from Japan. There will be also Parkson, Harvey Norman, Toys ‘R Us and more. The complete list is as below.
