The Starling Mall Damansara Uptown Preview

There are many new malls in Klang Valley opened lately in this couple of months. They are Sunway Velocity in Cheras, Glo Damansara and now Starling Mall in Damansara Uptown. Sunway Velocity opened late last year with 70% occupancy rate while Glo Damansara probably less than 20% occupancy rate. Starling Mall on the other hand probably around 30% occupancy rates and more to come soon.

Starling Mall is strategically located in the middle of Damansara Utama or Damansara Uptown. There are hundreds of offices in the area and this is healthy for a shopping mall like Mid Valley Megamall.

The traffic jam during peak hours especially after work is horrendous and Starling Mall built a tunnel which leads directly to the LDP highway which we felt is a smart and clever move. Instead of adding congestion to the inner roads, you can exit directly to the highway in basement car park.

What we like about this mall is the natural sunlight which brightened the entire mall. The mall is easy to walk and the design is not that complex. Thus, it is easy to walk around.

We were there during lunch time and the office crowd came in. Most of the restaurants are packed and some restaurants were giving some promotions to get more customers.

There is a Jaya Grocer and couple of restaurants opened in Lower Ground Floor, some retail outlets have opened, Popular Book Shop and a popular Thai restaurant call Mr Tuk Tuk Restaurant.

There is an upcoming café called The Embassy apparently owned by Wak Doyok is opening too. That sounds very interesting.

We reckon you should wait for a little longer until the shops are fully opened before you visit the mall if you stay far from that area. If you stay or work in that area, why not drop by and check out the restaurants.
