My Town Shopping Centre Cheras Kuala Lumpur Preview
A few weeks ago, a new shopping centre opens in Cheras Kuala Lumpur and it is only minutes away from the city centre. It is My Town Shopping Centre and they are located next to IKEA Cheras. This is the second shopping mall open in Cheras within a year after Sunway Velocity. Both shopping malls are gigantic malls and they are within 1km of each other.
I grew up in Cheras and stayed there for decades and what I can say is there are many shopping malls that didn’t make it in the past. Most of these white elephant malls are semi abandoned and they are scattered around Cheras. The few successful shopping malls in Cheras are AEON Taman Maluri and Cheras Leisure Mall.
My Town Shopping Centre is just a few minutes of driving to other prominent malls like Berjaya Times Square, Lot 10, Sungei Wang Plaza, Pavilion KL and KLCC. They have created flyovers from the busy Bandar Tun Razak directly to the mall. However, the entrance and exit to the mall’s car park is still confusing.
When I visited the mall a few weeks ago, the mall is probably 50% – 60% occupied. The mall was busy as it was during the school holiday.
There is a food court and it is quite popular with the families.
You can also find more food in lower ground floor and they have Village Grocer supermarket and Family Mart too. You can find many pop up food stalls here in lower ground floor.
The anchor tenant for My Town Shopping Centre is Parkson departmental store. There is the GSC cinemas on the top floor and it is opening soon.
