4 Days 3 Nights Bangkok Shopping Itinerary 2017 Day 1

Morning

Flies in to Bangkok and transfer to your accommodation, your homestay, hostel or hotel. Most accommodation check in time is around 2pm and 3pm on wards so if you reached Bangkok early, you can leave your luggage at the concierge of the hotel.

Please take note that morning flights to Bangkok is usually expensive except you booked it early or during special promo.

Afternoon

You could be flying in to Bangkok and transfer to your accommodation and check in around 3pm. Take a quick shower and time to walk around in Bangkok city center. There are many places to stay in Bangkok but most Asians prefer to stay in Pratunam. If you prefer Pratunam, you might want to read Top 20 Hotels in Pratunam Bangkok near Platinum Mall.

We listed down six shopping malls you can visit and they are:

1.Terminal 21 Shopping Mall

Terminal 21 Shopping Mall is one of our favourite shopping malls in Bangkok. It is near the train stations and the concept of the mall is an airport terminal with each floor representing a city. For example, 1st floor is Tokyo theme while 2nd floor is London theme.

terminal 21 tokyo

LG Floor – Caribbean
G Floor – Rome
M Floor – Paris
1st Floor – Tokyo
2nd Floor – London
3rd Floor – Istanbul
4th Floor – San Francisco (City)
5th Floor – San Francisco (Pier)
6th Floor – Hollywood

On the 5th Floor is the famous Pier 21 Food Court. It is probably the best food court in Bangkok. You can find some of the best street food stalls in Pier 21 Food Court with street food price. You can get a Pad Thai for around 30THB and many other good local food here. That is the reason why this food court is always packed with locals and tourists. There are also many restaurants to check out in Terminal 21.

For shopping each, Terminal 21 offers a good variety of shopping experience. They might not be the cheapest place to shop but we find this place really walk-able and enjoyable. One of our favourite local brands like ‘Old Skull’ has a boutique here in Terminal 21.

There is also a spa and cinema on the 6th Floor.

Train: BTS Asok Station Exit 1, MRT Sukvumhit Exit 3

2.Central World Shopping Mall

Central World Shopping Mall is the largest mall in Bangkok. It is huge and you can take a BTS train to this mall. They are ideally located in between BTS Chilom and BTS Siam. You can find anchor tenant such as Japanese departmental store Isetan and Zen Megastore. There are plenty of locals and International brands in this mall.

central world bangkok

There are many popular restaurants in Central World. You can Japanese famous cheese tart BAKE, After You Dessert, Taling Pling Thai restaurant and many more.

For shopping, you will be spoilt with choices. You can custom made your own T shirt in Uniqlo and dozens of retail stores in this mall. There is also the cinema on the top floor.

Train: BTS Chitlom or BTS Siam

3.Siam Discovery Shopping Mall

Siam Discovery Shopping Mall went thru a huge renovation and reopened last year. The result is stunning. The architecture and the interior design of the mall is simply brilliant. You can find many popular Japanese fashion brand here as well as Japanese street wear.

Be amazed by the interior design of this mall and most importantly the things you can shop here. If you are into design, architecture or interior, this is your shopping haven.

One of the main reasons we highly recommend this mall due to its uniqueness. You don’t find malls with concept like this in Asia. This is mall is definitely an eye opener and of course will burn a hole in your wallet.

Train: BTS Siam Station

Evening

Talad Rod Fai Ratchada

We are solely recommending Talad Rod Fai Ratchada and taking out other options as this is probably the most convenient and the best Talad Rod Fai night markets. Talad Rod Fai means Train Night Market and there are three of them in Bangkok. The first one was in the city and moved to Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin Train Night Market which is quite far from the city center. Talad Rod Fai Srinakarin Train Night Market is the biggest so far but we find it no point wasting so much time getting there when you have Talad Rod Fai Ratchada in the city. We also discounted other small night markets like Suan Lum Night Bazaar and Saphan Phut Memorial Bridge Night Market in Bangkok. Suan Lum Night Bazaar is still not fully occupied with stalls (the last time we went) and Saphan Phut catered to the locals more. It is better you visit Talad Rod Fai Ratchada or some called it Talad Rod Fai Night Market 2.

Talad Rod Fai 2 Bangkok Ratchada Top View

What we enjoyed this night market is it is very systematic. It is not a very huge night market and expect to spend at least an hour here. You can get many things here such as souvenir, fashion, apparels and food!

Talad Rod Fai 2 Bangkok Ratchada antiques

Like other Talad Rod Fai night markets, they always maintained a vintage section selling vintage items. This is the highlight of Talad Rod Fai night markets.

Talad Rod Fai 2 Bangkok Ratchada restaurants

It is also a food fest here in this night market. There are dozens of local food stalls, restaurants and bars to venture. We didn’t cover the food part yet but many of our blogger friends from Malaysia and Singapore compliment the food here. The best part of this night market is it is only 10 minutes walk from MRT Thailand Cultural Centre Station.

Train: MRT Thailand Cultural Centre  Station, EXIT no 3

4 Days 3 Nights Bangkok Shopping Itinerary 2017 Day 2

Morning

Pratunam Morning Market

If you are staying in Pratunam area and you are so gung ho and can’t wait to shop. You can wake up at 4 am to start your shopping quest. This is for early birds only as the market opens from 4 am to 9 am. Usually they start to close the stalls by 8.30 am for the usual traders and shops to open at 9 am.

pratunam morning market

These are sidewalk stalls and they offer mostly things for the girls and also food. This is also a wholesale market so things are cheaper when you purchase at bulk of three items and above.

There are some pretty decent street food here for breakfast and remember you need to be here early, it is recommended to come here after 5 am.

Pratunam Morning Market is located in front of Baiyoke Sky Hotel and the GPS is as below.

Pratunam Morning Market Address and GPS:

Soi Petchaburi 21 Alley (in between Soi Ratchaprapop 3 and Rathcaprapop 1 Alley) facing Baiyoke Sky Hotel

Pratunam Morning Market GPS: 13.753603, 100.540125

2.Pratunam Wholesale Market

You don’t need to go anywhere else if you plan to visit the Pratunam Morning Market. Just stay until 9 am and the Pratunam Wholesale Market will take over. You can see the stalls and shops open one by one around 9 am.

pratunam wholesale market packed

The main Pratunam Wholesale Market is located in between Baiyoke Sky Hotel and Platinum Design Mall. Thus, there are hundreds of shops in this market.

Make sure you remember your way in and out and if you get lost in the market, just ask for directions. It is pretty cramped in Pratunam Wholesale Market as traders and shoppers walk around with shopping trolleys and bags.

All the items here are for wholesale and you have to buy it at the bulk of minimum three items and above. You still can purchase single item at higher price.

You can find female and male fashion clothes, baby clothes, food, accessories and many other things here. Just bring your cash for your shopping spree. We recommend you to go in the morning and shop until lunch time. Take all your shopping stuffs back to your hotel before continue shopping in the afternoon.

Pratunam Wholesale Market Location:

Intersection of Ratchaprop and Petchburi roads to Ratchaprarop Soi 3

Afternoon

1.Platinum Fashion Mall

Everyone now goes to Platinum Fashion Mall in Pratunam. It is the most popular shopping mall for Asians especially Malaysians and Singaporeans.Platinum Fashion Mall is the wholesale shopping haven for many shoppers, traders and tourists. Located in Pratunam, opposite Amari Watergate Hotel and the Pratunam Wholesale Market, Platinum Fashion Mall is a gigantic six storey shopping complex.

platinum mall fish eye entrance

Continue your shopping spree at Platinum Fashion Mall, if you are hungry just head on to the top level for the food court.

What we like about shopping in Platinum Fashion Mall is they assigned the shops selling the same thing in the same floor. For example, if you want Men Fashion you just need to visit one of the assigned floor so everything is systematic. On top of that, it is fully air conditioned and they have cafes in between so the men can rest while the women can shop.

This is a wholesale shopping mall so again buying things in bulk of three items are cheaper. The mall close at 7 pm and you can spend the whole day shopping here. This is the most popular wholesale mall in Bangkok right now.

Evening

We listed down three night markets to venture in Pratunam. You can go back hotel drop your shopping bags, take a quick shower and then out for night market visits again. Basically there are three night markets and they are Platinum Mall Night Market, Palladium Night Market and Talad Neon Night Market. If you have the energy, you can visit three of them. If you want the best, you simply visit Talad Neon Night Market in our opinion.

1)The Platinum Mall Night Market

After Platinum Fashion Mall closes at 7pm, just walk out to their brand new initiative, the Platinum Mall Night Market. The location of the night market is right in front of the building and there are 40 shops selling different items such as fashion, accessories and food.

platinum night market overview

Probably the smallest night market ever in Bangkok, you can take a look or peep what they selling before head on to your hotel or to the next night market nearby.

The Platinum Mall Night Market Opening Hours:

7-11 pm daily

2)Palladium Night Market

Palladium Night Market is the second night market we recommend in Pratunam. We stumbled upon this night market by chance when we went to Platinum Mall Night Market. The night market is located outside of Palladium World Shopping Centre opposite Platinum Shopping Mall and Amari Watergate Hotel. They are located at the same street of Centara Watergate Pavilion Hotel in Pratunam.

palladium night market logo

In short, you just need to walk across the main road and you will reach Palladium Night Market. You can use the pedestrian bridge, no point risking your life crossing the roads illegally.

Unlike other night markets, the Palladium Night Market stalls offer many DIY products. You can personalised your own bags or clothes with unique letterings and cute icons. We personalised a few clothes for our boys too.

The stalls offer many accessories on top of fashion and we really like their DIY personalised products. It is really good for souvenirs and as usual the prices are very affordable.

3) Talad Neon Night Market

talad neon

Talad Neon is one of our new favourite night markets. Let us tell you why. The night market is located in Pratunam (and you can find many Malaysians and Singaporeans staying here as it is near to Platinum Fashion Shopping Mall and the wholesale markets). For years, Pratunam area has been lacking a good night market. They have a couple but not really that big in size.

You can many cute things to buy and the prices here are affordable. As usual, you buy more you can bargain more.

There are food stalls and bars in Talad Neon. If you have a long day, you can eat and chill here. This is Bangkok so drinks are relatively affordable. In Pratunam area, this is definitely the best night market. You shop till midnight before another two days of shopping.

4 Days 3 Nights Bangkok Shopping Itinerary 2017 Day 3

Since it is weekend, so the focus will be weekend markets. On Saturday or Sunday, the focus will be in Chatuchak area. You can spend the whole weekend in Chatuchak alone but we will show you how you can plan your day there.

Morning

Union Mall

Union Mall is located in Chatuchak and it is ideal to visit the mall first as it is air conditioned before you visit the weekend market. It can be easily accessible via the MRT Subway at MRT Phahon Yothin Exit 5.

union mall
The Union Mall in Chatuchak

You can visit the mall around 10 am and take a lunch here (at the top floors) before you visit the Chatuchak Weekend Market (via MRT subway).

This shopping mall is small but it has many unique boutique stalls. Some called this mall hipster mall as the mall caters to the younger crowd and it is not as busy like the other popular shopping mall. The design here is good for teenager, young working adults and you can find many beautiful evening and wedding dresses here at reasonable price.

The boat noodle and the Thai restaurant in this mall is a must visit and must try. Expect to spend hours venturing the mall here and this is not a wholesale mall but you can always try your luck to test your bargaining skills.

Train: MRT Phahon Yothin Exit 5

Afternoon

1.Chatuchak Weekend Market

Chatuchak is the world’s largest weekend market and if you plan to venture the market, you need to take days. After Union Mall, you can spend your afternoon here. They have directory boards at many places so you can locate what you plan to buy easily. There are many on ground staffs in the market and the sections are segmented and quite easy to find if you follow the map.

chatuchak bangkok

Many of the locals will come here to get their stock. This is the place for most locals to sell their own items. You can find local fashion boutiques, arts, crafts and almost everything in Chatuchak.

You can never finish venturing Chatuchak Weekend Market in two days. You can take the challenge but you won’t finish the market within a weekend.

chatuchak

Chatuchak Weekend Market is not the cheapest place for shopping compared to the wholesale markets but they offer many unique and creative items. That’s why you can find many locals coming here to get their stocks.

There are shipping companies like Fed Ex and DHL so you can ship back your shopping items from here. Some people choose and purchase the furniture here and shipped to their respective countries.

Please take note that you can really spend hours and days in Chatuchak Weekend Market. The market is also notorious for pickpockets so please take care of your belongings. There are signs and people telling you to be careful of your bags. Most of these pickpockets are not locals.

There are plenty of food available in Chatuchak Weekend Market.

Train: BTS Mo Chit, MRT Chatuchak and  MRT Chatuchak Park Station

2) JJ Mall

JJ Mall is a shopping complex located next to Chatuchak Weekend Market. For those who are dehydrated, you can visit the mall for a short break. The mall is fully air conditioned and you can find some hidden gems in one of the shops here.

We use to shop in one of the local fashion boutique here selling Japanese inspired design T-Shirts. You can find a couple of popular fast food restaurants here too.

JJ Mall opens from 10.30 am until 8 pm daily and you can hang out and chill in this morning before the evening.

Evening

Saturday evening will be focusing on Pratunam and Lat Phrao area for night markets. We have listed a few options for you to choose. We have took out Talad Rod Fai 3 as it is far from Chatuchak and the last time we visited, it is still quite empty. It is not worth the travel in our opinion.

1) JJ Green Night Market

JJ Green Night Market is also known as Jatujak Green Night Market and they are visible from the BTS Mochit Station. It is just across the road from Chatuchak and it is not a huge night market.

jj green night market logo

Hua Mumm Night Market is getting bigger and there are more things to see and shop. This is quite far from Chatuchak but not as far as Talad Rod Fai 3 Kaset Nawamin.

hua muum night market homemade products

What we like about this market is most of the customers here are locals. The night market is not that touristy and the things here are very reasonable in pricing.

We found quite a lot of good deals here in our last trip here and we always recommend our readers to come here.

There are restaurants and food stalls here and some of the local food here is really good. Hua Mumm night market is always on our list if we are in the Chatuchak area.
