Taiwan Original Cake Opens in Westgate Jurong Singapore

A few days ago, Taiwan Original Cake opens their first outlets in Singapore at Westgate. A total of eight hundred castella cake was given FREE and it sparked a huge long queue at Westgate Jurong. In Malaysia, they opened their first outlet in Sunway Velocity in February this year. They didn’t give out any free cakes but the queue was equally long due to curiousity. The Original Cake is originated from Tamshui Taiwan. They have four branches now, one in Shihlin and three in Tamshui Taipei. They opened their first outlet in Sunway Velocity KL in February and opened many outlets throughout Malaysia.

We were part of the queue and we queued two hours for the Taiwan Original Cake when they launched in Kuala Lumpir. We purchased the original flavour and cheese flavour. The chocolate flavour wasn’t introduced yet at that time.

So how does the taste of Taiwan Original castella cake like? Watch the video we did back then.

To be frank, it is a tasty cake but not the best out there. When we bought it home, we have mixed reactions on the taste of the cake. Many of us agreed the taste is okay but it is still not worth of the two hours of queuing.

Now with so many outlets in Malaysia, the outlets are losing the crowds. Some outlets are not busy anymore.

Is it worth the queue? Well, if you have the time why not? If not, after a couple of weeks when the craze died off, the queue might be lesser. By the way, the cake is pork and lard FREE.
