Miss Universe Malaysia will be wearing Nasi Lemak Dress in Las Vegas

Nasi Lemak is the most iconic food in Malaysia. It is also a popular food where Malaysians will have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper too. Nasi Lemak is rice cooked with coconut milk and complement with fried anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, cucumber and sambal (chili paste). It is wrapped with banana leaf so you get the fragrant aroma infused with the warm nasi lemak.

The dish is usually taken with a glass of ‘teh tarik’ or pulled milk tea in stalls or restaurants. It is an energy food and you have side dishes like ‘rendang chicken’, fried chicken, sambal sotong, sambal cockles (siham) and many more. The Chinese version usually comes with wild boar curry.

This iconic food won’t be the same again as today it was announced that Miss Universe Malaysia 2017, Samantha Katie James will be wearing a Nasi Lemak dress to compete in Las Vegas for the National Costume segment. This unique dress is designed by Brian Khoo.

What we can say is Samantha Katie James is really gorgeous and it is very brave to create the Nasi Lemak dress. We have seen the Twin Tower dress in the past but this Nasi Lemak dress is another level especially with that fried anchovies (ikan bilis) ,peanuts (kacang) and the majestic banana leaf wings. Malaysia Boleh!
