Ho Chak! in Japan at Chitose Japanese Restaurant
For the first time in Ho Chak! TV Series, the entire season is filmed in Japan and Malaysia. This new Ho Chak! in Japan series will be focusing in promoting destinations in Japan and also the cuisines from these places. Ho Chak! in Japan will have 10 episodes and will be aired on Malaysia free on air TV 8TV. Hosts Gary and Orange will be promoting the food and destinations in Japan.
For us, we are collaborating with Fun Japan to cover the entire filming process in Malaysia with Gary and Orange. We will be promoting Ho Chak! in Japan through our blog and social media networks. This is our first time collaborating with Fun Japan for Ho Chak TV series.
For the first and second episode, the destination is Hokkaido. For this episode, team Ho Chak went to fruit farm, fish market and bakery.
For the food from Hokkaido in Malaysia, we visited Chitose Japanese Restaurant in Solaris Mount Kiara. The restaurant is a Yakitori bar and they are often patronised by the Japanese communities who stayed in the neighbourhood.
For the Ho Chak in Japan TV Series, Gary and Orange tasted two unique food from Hokkaido and they are the charcoal grilled Salmon and the pudding.
As part of the team, we managed to taste these two dishes and also an additional grilled scallop.
For the grilled salmon, the chef slowly grilled the fish over the charcoal fire. The end result is the tasty and juicy salmon that is so memorable. The fish skin is crispy while the fillet is tender and this is one of the best salmon yakitori you can find in Malaysia. The lemon will create a hint of acidic flavour that will enhance the overall flavour of the salmon.
For the pudding, it is unbelievable how they can make such a smooth pudding. We were told the puddings are usually sold out and you need to book for the pudding. We never tasted such a soft and smooth pudding in our life and you can have it in Chitose Japanese Restaurant.
Lastly, we tasted the grilled scallops. Cooking shellfish needs tremendous skills. The grilled scallop is charcoal grilled to perfection. The texture of the scallop is just right with its natural flavour. You do know that Hokkkaido is popular with its scallops and you can taste it at Chitose Japanese Restaurant.
It was fun being part of the Ho Chak! in Japan team as both hosts are humble and friendly. They shared so many of their travel experiences in Japan to the entire team.
For Malaysians who are planning to visit Hokkaido, there is direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Hokkaido with AirAsia X. There are many good food to savour in Hokkaido such as their fresh seafood, their desserts as well as their local food.
