Last week, we attended the Extraordinary Italian Taste 2017 Gourmet Gala Dinner at Villa Danieli by Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel. This is our first time attending the Extraordinary Italian Taste and we were impressed.
For your information, the Extraordinary Italian Taste proudly presents a modern interpretation of Italian culinary tradition, ‘Italian Street Food is Gourmet Gala Dinner’ by the award-winning and professionally-trained Italian Star Chef Roberto Dal Seno at Villa Danieli by Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel.
This special event is organized by The Embassy of Italy, Italy Trade Agency, and Italy Malaysia Business Association, in conjunction with The World Week of Italian Cuisine that took place from 20th to 26th November 2017. #ItalianTaste
The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is an annual event primed to celebrate Italy’s incredibly varied regional cuisine and food traditions with a wide array of events promoting culinary culture and flavours to millions of consumers worldwide. This year is the second edition. The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is a yearly event promoting Italy’s gastronomic culture abroad, exhibiting its quality and excellence. Cuisine is one of the essential components of Italy’s identity and culture, as well as one of the features of Italy through its brands. This event takes place in over 100 countries across the world.
The Embassy of Italy and the Italian Trade Agency in Kuala Lumpur organized several events to promote top quality Italian cuisine which includes three different themes, ‘Italian Street food is Glam’ held in Ciccheti di Zenzero, ‘Italian Street Food is Trendy’ held in The Wine Bar @ ONE KL and ‘Italian Street Food is Gourmet’ held in Villa Danieli @ Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur.
The event kick-started at the alfresco area of Villa Danieli an inviting, free-standing trattoria styled with a welcome address by Miss Tourism International, Queen of the Year 2016, Miss Sofia Dal Rocio.
Aperitif and Canapes served along with a DJ spinning a selection of music that kept the crowd entertained before the main event began.
Main guests include, local companies dealing with Italian business.
Guests then adjourned to the indoor dining area to indulge in an evening of undeniable gourmet food trends, Italian culinary traditions and food-and-wine connoisseurship. The unique culinary experience was accompanied by a free flow of wines sponsored by LAZZARONI, VINICOLA CONSOLI and BOSCA TOSELLI (a non-alchoholic wine).
Culinary Arts students from Taylor’s University were also involved in this dinner, where they had the opportunity to learn from Chef Roberto. ‘Best Performing Students’ were hand-picked by the chef and they received a dining gift voucher for the Mediterranean Seafood Galore Dinner Buffet at Villa Danieli for 2 pax and a bottle of BOSCO TOSELLI.
Guests were also treated to watch the “Fifth Element”, a short video that evokes the whole Italian ability to transform raw materials, the fruit of the four natural elements into extraordinary products.
Roast scallopThe starter is the roast scallop. It is complemented with potato foam and smoked winter garden. What we love about this dish is the roast scallop that is juicy and tasty. It goes well with Consoli Grand Cuvee Spumante Brut & Bosca Toscelli.
This beautiful black ink risotto comes with pumpkin dripping, oyster dressing and lemon air. Love the lemon foam and the texture is just right for risotto. This is as authentic as we can taste. Love the taste of this risotto.
There is two main dishes and the first one is the sea bass fillet and it comes with vegetable caponata, in its stock reduction. The texture of the fish is tender and we love the combination taste of the fish and vegetable.
The second main dish is the lamb loin. The lamb loin comes with coffee and hazelnut crust, jerusalem artichoke, leek in its ash. The leek looks like the bone which is not. The lamb loin is beautifully cooked and look at that colour. This is memorable and love this dish so much.
The dessert is the Chocolate tribute in different texture. This is a good ending for the lovely dinner and evening.
At the end of the evening, there was also a lucky draw and winners walked home with MOKA Express (Espresso maker for 3 cups), gift hampers from Bottega Mediterranea worth RM300 and Italian Fine Food worth RM350. The Grand lucky draw prize is a 2D1N stay at deluxe room with breakfast at essence for 2 pax, plus Mediterranean Seafood Galore Dinner Buffet at Villa Danieli for 2 pax, with a total value of RM1,398.
It was a lovely evening with the beautiful Italian feast. The food is good and we enjoyed the evening with our friends.
