Ekkamai Bar and Thai Kitchen is a Thai restaurant in Jalan Batai, Bukit Damansara and they have been around for a few years. For the past couple of years, Jalan Batai has established as the place for food in Bukit Damansara.

The restaurant is dark and yet comfortable and yet cozy. We love the decorations and painting here. If you want a romantic place for food, we would recommend Ekkamai Bar and Thai Kitchen.

We went there for dinner with our friends. Just a couple of us with our boys so we didn’t order a lot of food. It was more like a catching up session. Sorry for the bad quality pictures, we were using our old phone to take the pictures and the restaurant was really dark. It is quite near impossible for a phone to capture any photos but we manage to take it anyways. Will bring our flash gun on our next food sessions.

Firstly, we had the THAI SPICY FISH & SQUID CAKES (RM 20), their version comes with sweet chilli sauce, achar pickle and crushed peanuts. The common one is the prawn spicy cake so this one is slightly different than the rest. We loved this version as the crushed peanuts gives an extra crunchy texture to this spicy fish and squid cakes.

For our boys we ordered the PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE (RM 22). It comes with chicken, prawns and cashew nuts. Their version of pineapple fried rice is good and our boys loved it.

TOM YUM with Mixed Seafood (RM 28). This classic hot and spicy Thai lemongrass soup comes with generous amount of fresh mixed seafood.

Steam Fish with Lime Juice, garlic and coriander in rich stock with whole deep sea Barramundi (RM 58). Whenever we dined in a Thai restaurant, we always order two dishes, Tom Yam Gung and Steam Fish with lime juice. What we loved about this is the barramundi is steamed to perfection and not overcooked. The stock is flavourful and this goes well with rice.

Not in the pictures is their dessert, The RED RUBY (RM 12). We didn’t do justice to this restaurant as this is so good, we ordered another one. The red ruby comes with water chestnut pearls with jackfruit slices in coconut milk on shaved ice. Their version comes with rich coconut milk and the jackfruit slices are so sweet. It is worth to come for this.

To be honest, there is nothing to complain about their food. The taste of the food is pretty good overall. For the pricing, it is Bukit Damansara’s pricing and don’t compare it with other Thai restaurants in Cheras or Puchong. If you have cravings for Thai food, Ekkamai Bar and Thai Kitchen is one of the restaurants you can consider.
