6 Days 5 Nights Hokkaido Sapporo Itinerary Day 4
6 Days 5 Nights Hokkaido Sapporo Itinerary Day 4
This is 6 Days 5 Nights Hokkaido Sapporo Itinerary Day 4 and we will be spending our time in Sapporo. The mission is to visit Mount Moiwa and the famous Shiroi Koibito Park.
Sapporo Streetcar (Shidden)
To get to the Mount Moiwa Ropeway, you need to take the Sapporo Streetcar (Shidden), the circle loop tram.
There are many options to get to the Sapporo Streetcar from Sapporo Station and we chose to walk for 14 minutes (900m) to Odori Station (Tozai Line). Take the subway to Nishi Juitchome Station. Take exit two and head south and you see the Chuokuyakusho Mae Station.
Take the tram at Chuokuyakusho Mae Station (Sapporo Street Car) and exit at Ropeway Iriguchi Station (7 stops).
Take another 17 minutes walk (1km) and you will reach the Moiwayama Ropeway or you can wait at the bus station for the Mount Moiwa shuttle bus. There is a lot of walking on day four but you will get used to it.
Mount Moiwa Ropeway
You need to purchase tickets there to take the cable car up to Mount Moiwa. We booked our tickets via Klook.com at https://www.klook.com/en-MY/activity/2334-mt-moiwa-ropeway-hokkaido/?aid=602.
Otherwise you can hike up to Mount Moiwa like some of the locals. There are five mountain trails from 2.4km to 4.5km course.
The journey to go up takes slightly more than 20 minutes and there is a café and souvenir shop. For the best view of Sapporo, you need to go up to the rooftop.
Mount Moiwa or Moiwayama is located in the middle of Sapporo
City and you see the panoramic view of Sapporo city, Ishikari Bay of Japan Sea and the surrounding mountains. The Mount Moiwa is at the altitude of 531m.
The best time to visit Mount Moiwa is late afternoon until night time but it will packed with tourists. There is a bell at the rooftop of Mount Moiwa.

Getting to Shiroi koibito Park
After visiting Mount Moiwa, time to visit Shiroikoibito Park. We took the cable car back to the Mount Moiwa Station and walk to the Ropeway Iriguchi Station (Sapporo Shiden Clockwise) to Chuokuyakusho Mae Station (7 stops).
Walk to Nishi Juitchome Station (Tozai Line) and take
another 7 stops to Miyanosawa Station. There are directions from the station to Shiroikoibito Park and it will take around 9 minutes (600m).
Shiroi koibito Park
For most youngsters, this is the place to visit. The Shiroi
Koibito park, a theme park by Ishiya, a local chocolate company. To us, it is
more like a Chocolate Factory (like Willy Wonka) than a theme park.
Shiroi Koibito Park comes outdoor area, shop, café, restaurant
and paid area with chocolate exhibits including the history of Ishiya and you can also see the production process in the factory. You can also create your own cookies in workshops (you have to pay for that).
When we were there, they were having renovations so we can visit the paid area for free. We visited the factory area and gone thru the exhibits of the humble beginning of Ishiya until today from a local Japanese chocolate
company to popular Japanese biscuit company.
We were hanging out at the outdoor area as it was packed indoor and there is a beautiful garden for photos. Even though it was May but it is very cold during late afternoon.
Shiroi Koibito is a popular Japanese chocolate biscuit snack. Most tourist will buy many boxes of Shiroi Koibito chocolates whenever they visited Japan.
They offer two variants, the white chocolate and chocolate and these are thin sliced biscuits and they are popular souvenirs.

Umi Hachikyo Bettei Oyaji Sapporo Hokkaido
Hachikyo is located at 〒060-0063 Hokkaido, Sapporo, Chuo, Minami 3
Jonishi, 3丁目 都ビル. You can easily find them on Google Map and
please do read why Google Map is important in Japan here. They are near to
Tanukikoji Shopping Street so you can visit Hachikyo and do shopping at the same time.
They are recommended by our friends and they are popular for
their signature dish, sukko Meshi Ikura Donbori or Salmon Roe Rice Bowl.
Watch the video to understand why.
They have been sourcing the best salmon roe in each season from seas around the world since 2005. The salmon roe is brined in soy sauce for their tsukko meshi and they sourced twenty tons of salmon roe a year. That’s a lot of salmon roe.

There is lots of walking for 6 Days 5 Nights Hokkaido
Sapporo Itinerary Day 4 and we really enjoy taking the Sapporo Street Car.
The Mount Moiwa is worth to visit while the Shiroi Koibito Park is more for the young ones but going there once is good so we went to a proper chocolate factory in Japan. We will combine Day 5 and 6 together and thanks for reading, hope this helps.
