Vientiane Walking Street Night Market New World
Vientiane Walking Street Night Market New World
Let us post our first Laos story. This Movement Control Order (MCO) give us lots of time for story telling and share some of our travel experiences in the past. We have been traveling frequently for the past few years and it is not easy especially we have to take care of our kids once we are back in Malaysia. Now, let us share one of the places to visit in Vientiane, this is the Walking Street night market at New World.
We visited Vientiane four years ago for visiting North East Thailand. We reached Vientiane and head to the border and spent a week in North East Thailand. Our second visit is just some time ago and we spend three days two nights in Vientiane only. One of the main reasons we flew to Vientiane is we managed to get our flight tickets for RM 150 return with Airasia and we spent less than RM 800 in total including hotel, food and tour.
Vientiane has vastly developed compared to our first visit four years ago. You can find many new developments and mostly by Chinese companies. New World is one of the new areas developed by Chinese companies and it is by the Mekong River. There is the Walking Street night market as wells bars, pubs and restaurants at New World. If not mistaken, the Huawei Office is located in this area too.
The Walking Street night market or they called it Walking Street Roller Skate Park reminds me a lot of the night markets in Thailand. The concept of this night market is bright with lights, many food stalls as well as fashion stalls. It feels like the Laos version of Art Box night market.
In Vientiane, most people accept Laos Kip, Thailand Baht and Chinese RMB but they will only give you back Laos Kip. Their priority is Laos Kip but if you carry some Thai Baht or Chinese RMB around, it can be used too.
You can find many locals visiting the Walking Street night market and there are two more nearby. Night market is a great place to past time in Vientiane and it is can be cooling at night too.
The things at The Walking Street is affordable, Mynn bought a glasses for fun and there are also clothing men and ladies similar to the night market in Thailand.
We spent three days at Vientiane and we find this city calm and the people here are friendly. The taxis here are affordable but we walked a lot in Vientiane. We enjoyed our traveling and food experiences at Vientiane and it is better than we expected. If you never been to Laos, Vientiane is a good place to start.
