Temporary Closure of All Malaysian Cinemas in November
Temporary Closure of All Malaysian Cinemas in November
We just got the news from our friends in the cinema industry. This press release forwarded to us and there will be temporary closure of all Malaysian cinemas ensuring long term viability of business.
This temporary closure has been announced by TGV cinemas and GSC cinemas. Temporary Closure of All Malaysian Cinemas will be in November 2020 only.
The Malaysian Association of Film Exhibitors (MAFE) has decided to temporarily suspend operations at all cinemas across Malaysia commencing November 2020. The cinemas will be progressively suspending movie screenings and/or concessions operations at their locations. They will continue to monitor the situations and react accordingly as market conditions improve.
The closure is a cohesive decision undertaken by the industry in the light of recent CMCO in some states across Malaysia which requires cinemas to remain closed, coupled with lack of new movies releases in the short term.
This is also announced by TGV as follows:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the temporary closure of all cinemas nationwide from 2nd Nov 2020 till further notice. It is a hard truth for all of us to accept, but we believe that we can brave this storm together.#SupportCinemas#SeeYouSoonTGV
