Restoran Wing Hao Dim Sum Balakong
Restoran Wing Hao Dim Sum Balakong
Time to share some good food we recently found in Balakong Cheras. This is Restoran Wing Hao, a dim sum restaurant located at Jalan Kasturi 5, Taman Kasturi Balakong Cheras. It is located behind TM Point and Public Bank Balakong.
Restoran Wing Hao Dim Sum Balakong opened for seven years and most of their customers are regular customers from the neighbourhood. According to their owner, it is quite hard to get new customers due to their hidden location as it is located at the popular area at C180 or the shop lots facing the main road of Balakong.
This is a typical dim sum restaurant coffee shop style restaurant. The thing we like about this restaurant is they make their own dim sum and not getting supplies from dim sum suppliers.
They are very popular for their homemade pao which include char siew pao, mini big pao and many other unique pao which include ‘fah tiew’ chicken pao.
They offer two types of dim sum, the steamed dim sum and the deep fried dim sum. They will offer you cooked dim sum to choose. One plate of dim sum is from RM 6 per plate and above which is quite standard price among the dim sum restaurants in Klang Valley.
They do not offer order to cook so you choose what they offer. What we like about the dim sum here is the freshness, the size, the quality and the taste. We won’t say this is the best dim sum but it is better than most.
The size of the dim sum is big and the taste is pretty good. Some of the dim sum we ordered include prawn dumpling (har kaw), bacon dimsum, mushroom dim sum and cheese tofu dim sum.
What you need to order is their lala dim sum that comes with soup which is quite unique. The lala dim sum also comes in generous filling and the soup is tasty.
We also ordered their famous char siew pao with tasty generous amount of char siew filling with soft skin.
The lor mai kai is pretty good too that comes with chicken and mushroom missing ‘lap cheong’ though.
Lastly, the chee cheong fun either with pork or prawn comes with smooth texture and this is comfort food.
Having dim sum nowadays feels like luxury food with one plate of dim sum priced at RM 6 and over. A group or family of four easily spend around RM 80 and above for a good meal of dim sum and this is real inflation.
We went to Restoran Wing Hao Dim Sum Balakong twice and the food is consistent and taste is better than most dim sum restaurant out there. The pricing is standard pricing compare with other dim sum restaurants in Klang Valley and we will definitely come back for more. We recommend their homemade pao for takeaway too.
Do support local business as many local kopitiams, food stalls and restaurants are surviving during these tough times. Please take care care and be safe!
