We visited Nara twice and we loved this place. Nara is the capital city of Nara prefecture Japan and it takes less than one hour of train ride from Osaka. There are two train stations in Nara and they are JR Naraeki Station or Kintetsu Nara Station. This たこやき大松 Takoyaki Omatsu Nara is located near the exit of Kintetsu Nara Station and near the famous Nara Famous Fast Pounding Mochi Nakatanidou. Takoyaki is a popular Japanese street food from Osaka or better known as octopus ball.

This is from one of our trips to Nara and takoyaki is one of the best comfort food you can find in this part of Japan. The たこやき大松 Takoyaki Omatsu is located at the South Exit of Kintetsu Nara Station Shopping Arcade and you can easily spot it with the red colour signage and awning.

It is a joy to see how they make takoyaki from scratch and that is the beauty of live cooking. That is also the reason why some restaurants adopt the open kitchen concept.

We ordered the takoyaki with octopus filling. The difference between the takoyaki in Japan and Malaysia is the texture, the taste and the ingredient.

This takoyaki offers soft texture so please eat it when it is warm. The taste and flavour is spot on you won’t be complaining the mayonnaise, seaweed and the bonito flakes topping. The taste is a bit salty due sauce but also sweetness from the mayonnaise so it is very savoury especially with the minced squid filling.

This is the comfort food when you traveling in Nara especially during winter. The hot takoyaki will be a great comfort food before you start exploring this beautiful city.
