Chinese New Year is coming and planning for CNY lunch or dinner? Time to check out the Dorsett Grand Subang Chinese New Year menu 2022.
Dorsett Grand Subang offers three Chinese New Year Set Menu at The Emperor Restaurant and other CNY Celebrative ala-carte menu. It has been a while since I dined at Dorsett Grand Subang so I guess it is time to check out their Chinese New Year Menu 2022.
This is the Dorsett Grand Subang ‘Wealthy Set Menu’ and it is available from 1 Jan to 15 Feb 2022.
Salmon fish and shredded Young Mango Prosperity Yee sang
It is the time of the year that we can toss the Yee Sang again as most of us are stuck at home last year. The Salmon fish and shredded Young Mango Prosperity Yee sang is not too sweet and I like how they infused the young mango into the yee sang. The taste of their version of yee sang is not too fancy but something great to start the Chinese New Year feast.
Double-Boiled Sea Whelk with Bamboo Piths and Farm Village Chicken
This is bowl of goodness and the taste of the soup contains the goodness and flavours of the sea whelk and farm village chicken (kampong chicken). For soup lovers, you will definitely enjoy this.
Roasted Crispy Chicken with Prawn Crackers
This is one of the traditional chicken dish for Chinese New Year menu. As mentioned in their menu, the roasted chicken comes with crispy skin and prawn crackers. The beauty of this roasted crispy chicken is the tender meat.
Together with the prawn crackers, I enjoyed their version of crispy chicken. This is a very traditional CNY dish and OLD is really GOLD.
Hong Kong Style Steamed Red Snapper Fish
Wok-Fried Tiger Prawn with Superior Soya Sauce
This is a beautiful presented wok fried tiger prawn with superior soya sauce. This is also one of my favourite dish of the Dorsett Grand Subang Chinese New Year Menu 2022. They are not shy of offering huge size prawn and the most important part the prawns are fresh with great texture. The superior soya sauce offers more flavours to the prawn and not overwhelming and I really love this dish.
Braised Black Mushroom with Dried Oyster and Sea Moss
This is another popular Chinese New Year dish and I love the beancurd skin, the mushroom, the sauce as well as the dried oyster.
Steamed Organic Brown Rice with Glutinous Rice and Smoked Duck
This is a pretty unique dish as The Emperor restaurant offers pork free menu. Traditionally this is a pork dish but the chef replace it with smoked duck. It is clever to use smoke duck as replacement as duck offers stronger taste and it comes with a bit of fat too under the skin.
Even though they use organic brown rice mix with glutinous rice, this dish never lack the flavour and it complements well with the smoked duck.
Deep-fried Crispy “Nian Gao” with Sweet Potato and Yam & Crystal Skin Mango Puree with Pandan Lotus Paste
At first I thought this is fried chempedak but this is actually their version of fried nian gao. The skin is crispy and surprisingly very tasty and it is better to eat it with hands. The yam and crystal skin mango puree with pandan lotus paste is sticky but flavourful. You can mostly taste the pandan taste as it overpowered the mango puree but this is sweet and tasty.
Chilled Sea Coconut with Lemon Slices
Don’t be fooled by its presentation. This chilled sea coconut with lemon slices is very refreshing and a great dessert to end the dinner especially after the deep fried nian gao.
Let me be honest here with the Dorsett Grand Subang Chinese New Year Menu 2022 ‘Wealthy Set Menu’. Most of the food are popular Chinese New Year dishes, not many surprises except the glutinous rice as well as the dessert.
For me, the most important thing about Chinese New Year food is the quality of the food and the taste of the food. I have been to restaurants that offer fancy CNY dishes but the food taste horrible. Instead of fancy dishes or pretty looking dishes, I prefer to stick at food that offers us a smile at the end of the day. Food that is worth talking and makes everyone happy.
