Setia City Palace 8 BBQ Steamboat Pork Free Buffet Review

Are you big fan of BBQ & Steamboat? Check out this new BBQ seafood buffet restaurant at Setia City Convention Centre, this is Setia City Palace 8 BBQ Steamboat. The restaurant is a pork free (they are applying on HALAL certificate) Chinese restaurant located at Ground Floor within Setia City Convention Centre.

The Setia City Palace 8 BBQ Steamboat opens last month and this is the newest Chinese restaurant at Setia City. The restaurant is located near the Setia City Convention Centre entrance next to Setia City Shopping Mall.

The restaurant is quite spacious and it offers individual electric hot pot and BBQ grill for small table for four and also large table for 10 people. Before I go for the review, check out all the food types and soup they offer.

They offer more than 50 types of food which includes meat, seafood, vegetables and noodles.

The Steamboat Base they offer 5 types of soup and they are:

Palace Chicken Stock Soup

Palace Special Tomato Soup

Korean Kimchi Soup

Thai Tom Yam Soup

Satay Lok Lok

The Soup is priced at RM 15 per soup base and it could be for individual pot or whole table pot. If you choose two soup, you will be charged RM 30. This is surcharge of the buffet price.

For Sliced Poultry, they offer American Beef Slices and Lamb Slices. This will be served to your table and you can order ala-carte as part of the buffet, no additional charges needed.

For Skewers, there are 18 food varieties for available and they are:

The skewers can be deep fried by the chef over the counter. You choose the skewers and they will deep fried for you.

For Seafood, they offer eight types of seafood and they are:

I tried all of the seafood and they are fresh. Please take note that most of the seafood offered are XL sizes including the huge shelled scallop.

For Steamboat Ingredients, they offer 10 food items and they are:

There are also fried rice and fried mee hoon, these are popular food among the kids!

For sauces, they offer prawn paste chili sauce, sesame sauce, yellow chili sauce, Thai spicy chili sauce, Palace Chef Specialist Made Mixed Chili sauce with coriander, crispy minced garlic, fried shallot, spring onion and chili.

For drinks, they offer water, coffee, tea and juices.

For dessert, they offer Polar Ice Cream, Ais Krim Potong and Mango Sago in shot glasses. Not forgetting the fresh fruits and mochi.

Now, let’s start with the Setia City Palace 8 BBQ Steamboat Pork Free Buffet Review.

The restaurant is fully air conditioned and the ambiance is bright, clean and spacious. It feels like a premium Chinese steamboat / hotpot restaurant so it gives a lot of comfortable dining experience here.

I tried four soups and they are Palace Chicken Stock Soup, Palace Special Tomato Soup, Thai Tom Yam Soup and Satay Lok Lok.

I enjoyed the Palace Chicken Stock Soup and Palace Special Tomato Soup as the taste is not too strong so you can enjoy the taste of the food. The tom yam soup is enjoyable as it is not too spicy and I love the satay lok kok sauce as I love lok lok.

The service here is good as they always come and refill the broth. You can also choose from 1 soup to four soups based on your preferences.

Beside the hotpot, there is the BBQ grill section. Here you can grill the skewers, meat or seafood. It is up to your preferences.

You can BBQ grill the skewers, dipped into hotpot or deep fried them. If you like it crispy, no harm trying deep fry the skewers as they taste so good.

Since I tried most of the food, let me highlight what I love most at Setia City Palace 8 BBQ Steamboat.

The Sliced Poultry, they offer American Beef Slices and Lamb Slices. This will be served on your table and you can order this again from them without extra charges.

Just lightly dipped these on the hotpot and complement it with the sauce, this taste so good especially with their sesame sauce.

Their seafood is fresh and huge and I had like easily half a dozen of those XXL shelled scallop. Either you grilled it or cook it with hotpot, it taste so juicy and good!

I took my time enjoying the food for two hours. After slowly finishing the food, time for ice cream and the mango sago. The mango sago is sweet and savoury and it is the perfect ending for the BBQ seafood dinner.

Overall, the soups are tasty, the food are fresh and the seafood is huge and generous. For the buffet, if you love seafood, this is definitely worth the visit and the money.

Their opening hours are from 11.30 am to 3 pm for lunch and 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm for dinner. Customers can enjoy buffet up to 2 hours per session.
