This is the real hidden gem of Balakong Cheras unlike most videos you watch on Facebook. This is Bookafe Café and we went to this place for lunch some time ago. Please take note getting a parking space might be a challenge but never impossible.
Bookafe Café is a rather unique café. Firstly, the location is within the village area and not the commercial area. The concept and design of the café is very casual and there are books and board games in the café.
We were there for lunch and we ordered their Signature Pork Chop, Soft Shell Crab Squid Ink Pastaand Fish & Chips. We checked and we can’t confirm whether they still sell Fish & Chips as you know food places changed menu from time to time.
This is a fun café and the boys loved it. They played board games while waiting for the food to be served. We love the service here as the staffs here are very friendly.
Signature pork chop comes with corn, sliced apple, chips and green with balsamic vinegar. The portion of the pork chop is generous while the taste of it is pretty good.
The Soft Shell Crab Squid Ink Cabonara is our favourite. It comes with a large size soft shell crab and it comes with buttermilk sauce.
They are very generous with the fish roe, now they use red fish roe, seaweed as well as mini beansprout. The texture of the pasta is al-dente and it complements well with the crispy soft shell crab and the savoury buttermilk sauce.
Lastly, we had the Fish and Chips. It comes with two big pieces of fish, chips and sauce. The kids loved this but we are not sure they are still selling this on their new menu.
Bookafe Café is truly a hidden gem at Balakong Cheras. The food is good, huge portion with café pricing. It is matter of time, we will go back again for their lovely food.
