Colorful Houses at Cerro San Cristobal Hill Lima Peru
This is something interesting to share based on our travels in Lima Peru. We accidentally discovered the Colorful Houses at Cerro San Cristobal Hill when we went to the Chinatown as well as the Central Market (Mercado Central) in Lima.
Please take note that this part of Lima is popular with tourists but it is not as safe as Miraflores or Kennedy Park. The area near central market is packed with locals but you can get the best deals there.
Just four blocks away from the Central Market, you will reach Puente Balta, a pedestrian bridge that offers city views.
Here you can see the Colorful Houses at Cerro San Cristobal Hill Lima Peru. The photos are taken at the this bridge, Puenta Balta.
We saw the Colorful Houses at Cerro San Cristobal Hill in taxi and we just googled and we walked here. It took us around 15 minutes due to the heavy human traffic in this neighbourhood.
Cerro San Cristóbal is 409 meters high and it stands out due to the colourful houses. We read that it is a new project started in 2021 to make the neighbourhood ‘friendly’.
Somehow, it reminds us of the Busan colourful houses of Gamcheon Culture Village.
If you look at the peak of the Cerro San Cristobal Hill, you can find a huge cross and it is built in 1928. At night it is illuminated and it is so bright, you can spot it from Miraflores.
You can go up to the Colorful Houses at Cerro San Cristobal Hill Lima Peru but we won’t be encouraging that. That part of Lima is not a safe neighbourhood and it is not popular for tourism.
If you have Peruvian friends, maybe you can ask them to bring you there but if you are visiting, we don’t recommend you to go up to the Cerro San Cristobal Hill.
For your information, there is also another Cerro San Cristobal Hill and that is located in Santiago, Chile.
If you are traveling to Lima, remember there are the Colorful Houses at Cerro San Cristobal Hill.
