Wildlife Safari Game Drive Experience in South Africa
Wildlife Safari Game Drive Experience in South Africa
Let’s share something that might interest you. The Wildlife Safari Game Drive Experience in South Africa. We visited South Africa sometime ago for holiday and one of the must do is the Wildlife Safari Game Drive Experience.
The wildlife safari or game drive is getting into the wildlife up, close and personal. Animals hunting are banned in many countries in Africa especially in South Africa.
South Africa is home to several world-renowned national parks and private game reserves where you can experience incredible wildlife sightings. Some of the most famous ones include Kruger National Park, Addo Elephant National Park, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, and Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
We were at a lesser popular game reserve under the Legends Safari Resort. This is considered as private game reserve means the entire area is under private property including the wildlife.
We sat in the special 4 wheel vehicles that is without door and windows. This is for everyone to get close to the nature and wildlife and without any doors or windows, you get the thrilling experience.
You can expect to see a wide variety of wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros), along with other species like giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.
We didn’t manage to see the leopard and it took us two drives to manage to spot the lion, up close and personal.
The private game reserve is a huge area. The game drive took us almost 2 hours per trip and we are driving to different areas in the game reserve to observe the wildlife.
For the first game drive, we didn’t manage to see many wildlife and then the tour company manage to do the second game drive on the next morning.
During the second safari game drive, we finally see most of the ‘Big 5’ which includes the lion, elephant and the rhinos. We also manage to see the giraffes and hippos during the second game drive.
The lion family was really up close and personal. It went from one side, getting close to our car and then walk passed. It was around a couple feet between us and the lions.
The driver switch off the car and most of us kept quiet in the vehicle. The lion didn’t bother to get close to us but just cross the road. These are wild lions and not pets but they don’t really disturb the vehicle and people.
We think that was the best Wildlife Safari Game Drive Experience in South Africa. The weather was good, it was really cooling in the evening and morning.
We stayed at Legend Safari Resort and that will be another story. This was part of our holiday and we joined a tour company from Malaysia for this trip. Most travel companies offer Wildlife Safari Game Drive Experience in South Africa. The difference is how luxury is the resort and how many days you plan to tour around South Africa.
