Hei Yin Cantonese Restaurant Bangkok
Hei Yin Cantonese Restaurant Bangkok
HEI YIN is an authentic Cantonese restaurant located in Gaysorn Centre Bangkok. Helmed by HK Chef Jackie, you can taste the modern take of Cantonese cuisine in additional of generous spread of food, warmth and service.
This is my first visit to Hei Yin and I had the chance to meet and chat with Chef Jackie. The Hong Kong chef has over 30 years of experience under his belt and he has been staying in Bangkok for decades.
Hei Yin is located on 3rd Floor of Gaysorn Centre (opposite Central World) and you can spot the restaurant with its green colour exterior. There are plenty of space in this restaurant and I love their unique private rooms as well as VIP room.
A glance at their menu, they offer many familiar Cantonese dishes with modern twist and presentation. Time to check out the food I had for dinner with my family and friends at Hei Yin Cantonese Restaurant Bangkok.
Steamed Superior prawn dumpling in soup. This the most beautiful prawn dumpling ever. It comes with the shape of the fish, swimming in the corn soup. This looks so delicate and yet it is so tasty.
Rice noodle rolls wrapped with spring rolls and minced shrimp. I love the presentation of this. The change the color of the rice noodle rolls to green and there is a few layers of textures of this dish.
Steamed dried scallop dumpling with shrimp and pork “Siew Mai”. The most modest looking dish of the evening but the taste didn’t disappoint.
HEI YIN Special Xiao Long Bao HEI YIN. This is should be called ‘Tar’ (BIG) Long Bao. This is a massive bao and it can be shared with a few people. Most noticeable ingredient is the dried scallop in this bao.
Lychee woods roasted Peking duck. If not mistaken, they are using English duck and it taste better compare to local duck. The skin is crispy, fragrant and delectable. Once you start, you can’t stop having it.
For the duck meat, the chef used it to make duck sweet and sour dish. This is first time trying duck meat sweet and sour dish and the taste is pretty decent. I am sure the kids will enjoy it.
Wagyu Char Siew. This is one of my favourite dish of the evening. What a smart way using wagyu as char siew and it is not easy to make it taste like it. The beef is tender and this taste similar like char siew. It complements well with the pickle radish as well as the honeycomb, what a great combinations.
Crispy rice with prawns served with lobster bisque. I love lobster bisque and it is smart to include crispy rice for the texture. The lobster bisque is cooked to perfection and I had few bowls of this.
HEI YIN Fried rice. This special fried rice will definitely be approved by Uncle Roger. It comes with generous amount of ingredients and you can taste the ‘wok hei’. The kids will definitely love this.
Braised crocodile foot with Abalone sauce. Crocodile foot? The first impression like, will the texture be hard like the skin? The answer is not! The texture of the skin similar to pork trotter skin and this is cooked to perfection. The skin and meat is soft and it feels as if it melts in your mouth. I am not a big fan of crocodile meat but this is a must order if they have it in their menu that day.
Hong Kong egg tart
Deep-fried banana stuffed with red jujube with caramel silk. What a presentation this is! The caramel silk is an art itself and this crispy dessert is the best way to end the feast.
This is the best Cantonese restaurant in Bangkok and the food here is amazing in terms of flavor, texture and presentation. I really enjoyed the food here! How is this restaurant not in Michelin Guide Bangkok yet?
