Toong Kwoon Chye Wantan Noodles Jalan Bukit Bintang
If your parents from Kuala Lumpur, I am sure they know this place. This is Toong Kwoon Chye Wantan Noodles located at Jalan Bukit Bintang (near the old Sun Complex). They have been selling wantan noodles for 100 years old with 4 generations.
I used to visit this restaurant often when the old office was nearby in the late 1990s. They are one of the few places in Jalan Bukit Bintang that offers early breakfast back then.
I recently revisited Toong Kwoon Chye Wantan Noodles Jalan Bukit Bintang and made a short video. You can check it out below.
According to the 4th generation, they operated at this shop for over 70 years and 30 years prior. The unique selling point is this the old fashioned or traditional handmade wantan noodles.
Unlike the popular wantan mee with caramelized char siew, their char siew uses tender lean meat. The noodles is springy in texture and this is how wantan noodles taste like back in my childhood days.
Wantan is the typical one with minced pork and not the ones with prawn. It is quite common in Kuala Lumpur.
A quick glance at their menu, the food prices are still very reasonable considering they are located in the middle of the city.
Time to check out this century old wantan noodles at Jalan Bukit Bintang. They open daily from 9 am to 3pm except Wednesdays and it usually packed with their regular customers.
