AirAsia 2025 New Powerbank Regulations
It’s important for travelers to stay informed about evolving airline regulations, especially concerning electronic devices. Here’s a breakdown of the key points regarding AirAsia’s new power bank regulations in 2025, based on current information:
- Batteries with 100Wh or less: Guests may carry up to five (5) batteries without airline approval in carry-on baggage only. If a guest is carrying six or more batteries they must get approval* from the airline.
- Batteries between 100Wh and 160Wh: Guests may carry a maximum of two (2) spare batteries in carry-on baggage only. The approval* of the airline is required.
- Batteries exceeding 160Wh: Not permitted to bring on board.
Batteries (Lithium, Lithium Ion Cells, Batteries, and Spare Batteries):
- Cabin Baggage: Electronics devices such as cameras, cellular phones, laptops, and camcorders containing lithium or lithium ion cells (a Wh rating exceeding 100Wh but not exceeding 160Wh) for personal use are allowed for carriage into the aircraft.
- Spare batteries, which are for portable electronic devices, e.g. power banks must be carried in carry-on baggage ONLY, NOT permitted as in a checked baggage and MUST within the specified Wh limit listed below:
