1.4 Million Malaysians visited Thailand in 2025
Malaysians still love Thailand as their top travel destination. There are 1.4 million Malaysians visited Thailand in 2025 so far based on the report from Bangkok Post from 1st Jan to 20th April 2025.
According to them, the top three countries for tourist arrivals to Thailand are:
- China: 1.5 million arrivals
- Malaysia: 1.4 million arrivals
- Russia: 835,385 arrivals
- It’s important to note that while China leads in the number of arrivals, the number of Chinese tourists in the first quarter of 2025 has decreased compared to the same period in 2024. I have no data on the Malaysia tourists of last year but the numbers look promising.
General Information on Tourism in Thailand:
- Thailand is a popular tourist destination known for its diverse attractions, including beautiful beaches, historical temples, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine.
- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has set a target of attracting 40 million foreign tourists in 2025.
- The Thai government is actively promoting tourism through various campaigns and initiatives, including the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025.”
- Thailand is implementing the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) for all foreign visitors starting May 1, 2025, to streamline immigration procedures.
- While Asian markets are significant for Thai tourism, there is a growing focus on attracting tourists from Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.
- The government is also aiming to attract high-spending tourists and promote luxury tourism experiences.
I hope that Tourism Authority of Thailand do more marketing in Malaysia to attract more tourists to Thailand. For decades, Malaysians have been visiting Thailand like their second home even when there are negative sentiments about the country.
