Here are some tips for visiting the Langkawi Sky Bridge
Just for your information, I visited Langkawi Sky Bridge twice. First time in 2017 and the recent trip is with family in December 2024.
Based on my recent trip to Langkawi Sky Bridge during school holidays, peak season and end of the year holiday, let me offer you some tips for visiting the Langkawi Sky Bridge.
Planning Your Visit:
- Best Time to Visit: The dry season (November to March) offers clear skies and pleasant weather for the best views. To avoid crowds, visit early in the morning (right after opening at 9:30 AM) or later in the afternoon. Weekdays are generally less crowded than weekends.
- Check the Weather: The bridge may close due to strong winds or heavy rain, so check the forecast beforehand.
- Book Tickets: Purchase your Langkawi Cable Car and Sky Bridge tickets online in advance to potentially get discounts and skip queues, especially during peak season. Note that the Sky Bridge ticket is usually separate from the cable car ticket. Even though u book the tickets online, you still have to queue up to collect ticket except you purchase the EXPRESS PASS.
- How to Get There: You’ll first need to get to the Oriental Village and take the Langkawi Cable Car to the top station. From there, you can either walk down to the bridge (about 10-15 minutes downhill, 15-20 minutes uphill and potentially strenuous) or take the SkyGlide, an inclined lift (for an additional fee).
- Check the SkyGlide: The SkyGlide is often in maintenance due to spare parts unavailability so do check with them or check their latest Google Review before purchasing the ticket online.
During Your Visit:
- Queuing up to Cable Car: When you receive your normal tickets, you will be allocated with your timing. You do not need to queue! Just walk to the officer during your timing and they let you enter. Again, I repeat you don’t need to queue up, just show up during your time on your ticket.
- Wear Comfortable Shoes: You’ll be doing some walking, especially if you choose the nature walk to the bridge. During our visit, we had to hike around 200m to the Sky Bridge as the SkyGlide was not working. Having a comfortable shoes definitely important during your visit.
- Sun Protection: Bring hats, scarves, and sunscreen as it can get sunny at the top. If you are wearing hats or caps, beware of the monkey thieves.
- Warm Clothes: The breeze at that height can be chilly, so consider bringing a light sweater or windbreaker. Check the weather!
- Cash: Sky Bridge tickets are often purchased at the top station and might be cash only. Shops and restaurants at the middle and top stations may not accept credit cards. Just in case if their system down, QR code not working, cash is king!
- Photography: Bring your camera! The views are stunning. Midday is often the best time for shooting. Be mindful of others when taking photos, as the bridge can be narrow.
- Transparent Panels: Be prepared to remove your shoes before stepping onto the glass floor panels to avoid scratching them.
- Safety: Walk calmly and don’t run, jump, or lean over the edges. Be considerate of other visitors who may be uncomfortable with heights.
- SkyGlide: If you choose the SkyGlide, be prepared for potential queues, especially during busy periods. You might be able to purchase a one-way ticket for the ride back up if you walk down.
Things to Consider:
- Fear of Heights: If you have a strong fear of heights or heart issues, the Sky Bridge might not be suitable for you.
- Time Allocation: Allocate sufficient time for the cable car ride, exploring the viewing platforms, walking to and across the Sky Bridge, and potentially the SkyGlide and nature walk.
- Other Attractions: Consider combining your visit with other attractions at the top station like the SkyBistro, SkyDome, SkyRex, and the Sky Adventure Park. The Oriental Village at the base also has shops and restaurants. We only visited the 6D Cinemotion after the visit to Langkawi Sky Bridge.
Here are some of things that happened during our visit to Langkawi Sky Bridge. We joined the long queue which is not necessary.
The SkyGlide didn’t work so we walk to SkyBridge. On our back to the cable car, a lady fainted on the staircase.
We didn’t visit the Eagle SkyWalk as we rather spend time on the SkyBridge and you have to pay extra for the attraction.
We enjoy the food at SkyBristro, the food is good and the prices are reasonable. Not forgetting they have many friendly staffs there.
