MATTA FAIR 2011 Aug 12th-14th Preview, Malaysia Largest Travel Fair

*Check out Matta Fair August 2011 Hot Deals HERE!*

The largest travel fair is back and it will be happening from 12th to 14th August, 10 am to 9pm at PWTC, Kuala Lumpur. Since 1975, the member boosts to over 2000 members from a mere 30 over members.

The upcoming Matta Fair will expect a bigger turnout than last year. Expect more than 800 booths, mainly travel from local and international agents.

Before I proceed, let us look back on the traveling industry this year.

On March, the natural disaster in Japan rocked the world. Coincidentally it was happening during the Matta Fair, many travel agents and companies were badly hit by the incident. Sadly, we were the victim as well. We cancelled our planned trip at that time and we went to Hong Kong, Macau and China instead. Japan is now fully recovered and they are ready for business! I had a few friends who visited Japan in this few weeks gave good feedbacks on their trips. Japan anyone?

Thus, on the last few days we were saddened by the riots in London and also not forgetting the rise of oil prices in the past few months which inflates the air tickets with fuel surcharges.

However, we had the shocking news this few days. It is the alliance of Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines. Just weeks after the alliance of Air Asia with ANA in Japan to establish Air Asia Japan, the alliance between Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines will create a strong partnership in many years to come.

What do we expect from the upcoming Matta Fair 2011? Where do you want to travel?

Malaysia

We often travel out of the country but we missed the best part at home. Try to travel to places like Mulu Caves in Sarawak, Mount Kinabalu in Kota Kinabalu and also Sipadan Island in Sabah for scuba diving. Sabah and Sarawak is eco-tourism and cultural haven. Time to visit this two lovely states?

Thailand

How to go to Matta Fair 2011, PWTC:

I will be driving there early to avoid unnecessary traffic jam. I will park at the The Mall Shopping center which is located opposite Seri Pacific Hotel. Otherwise you could try your luck parking inside.

The other best way is to take a train there via STAR LRT under PWTC station or KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad)

  1. Your article, MATTA FAIR 2011 Aug 12th-14th Preview, Malaysia Largest Travel Fair | Places and Foods – Malaysia Travel and Food Blog, really made me stop and think this matter. Not only was it well conceived but very enlightening as well. I have added your website to my link roll and will be back to read future posts.

  2. MATTA seems to be only interested in getting as much revenue from the fair and leaves the public to the mercy of these tour operators and travel agents. I had my tour cancelled by a reputable Travel Agent after 1 week before departure despite booking 6 months ahead. Had to pay more for a shorter tour with an alternate travel agent.
